In 1910, Thurman lived with his parents and brother at 3513 Green Wood Avenue, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, per the 1910 United States Federal Census. His father, Claude H, was 38 years old. He was a Collector with an Insurance Company. The house was rented. His wife was Mattie Belle, 35 years old. Her parents were born in Germany. She was born in Kentucky like the others. Thurman was 2 years old at the time and his brother Burtram was a newborn. Claude and Mattie Belle had been married 4 years at the time. They had 3 children, 2 still living.
WTM112 1920 US Federal Census
Thurman Lived at 4715 Fourth Street, Allison County, Jefferson, Kentucky in 1920 according to the 1920 Census. He was 11 years old and lived with his parents, Claude and Mattie Miller. Claude was 48, Mattie was 48, and both were born in Kentucky. Mattie’s parents were born in Germany. Claude worked in dry cleaning in 1920. Thurman’s brothers were Louis Aloysius Miller (age 8) and Bertram Miller (age 9).
WTM112 1930 US Federal Census
In 1930, Thurman lived at 2032 Lakeside Drive in Allison County, Jefferson, Kentucky. He was 22 years old and lived with his parents and both brothers. Bertram was 20, Louis was 18, Mattie was 55 and Claude was 57. Mattie was 30 and Claude was 32 when they got married. So they would have been married in 1905. In 1930, Louis was not employed. Bertram was an electrician at an electric shop. Claude was a manager at Dye Works. Claude owned the home and the value of the home was approximately $8,000.
