According to Find A Grave, Robert was born in Virginia in 1756 and passed in Kentucky in 1818 at age 61 or 62, though it is unknown where he is buried. His parents are listed as Christopher Singleton (1735-1804) and Sarah Sally Hundley (1735-1827). His siblings are listed as:

  • John Singleton (1764-1810
  • Christopher Singleton (1771-1838)
  • Mathew Singleton (1776-1843)
  • Richard Singleton (1781-1859)
  • Mary Singleton (McDaniel) (1781-1846)

Robert’s spouse was Sarah Floyd (1758-1827, m. 1779)

Their children were: Robert Hunt Singleton (1775-1858) and Elizabeth Singleton (Murphy) (1792-unknown).

A few years after Robert passed, the Commonwealth of Kentucky passed an act to grant Robert’s daughters, Polly and Betsy, the three hundred thirty three and one third acres of very poor land that Robert passed down to them, though it had been unpaid at the time of his passing.

According to Robert Singleton’s Obituary published in the Interior Journal on 29 March 1979, Robert was the son of Christopher Singleton, Sr. He was born in 1756 in Virginia and died in 1818 in Lincoln, County, Kentucky. Robert married Sarah about 1779.

Their children were John Singleton who was born in 1760, married Daisy Farris of Lincoln County, Ky., on June 28, 1803, and died in 1831; Robert Singleton who was born in 1782, married Elizabeth Camden on 14 January 1813 and died in 1858; Polly Singleton who was born in 1784, never married, and died in 1860; Nancy Jane Singleton who was born in 1788 and married Thomas Gooch on 5 November 1807; Thomas Singleton who was born 1790, married Polly Trowbridge – daughter of Isaac Trowbridge – in Lincoln County, Kentucky on 6 March 1819; Elizabeth Singleton who was born in 1792 and married William T. Murphy on 28 July 1837; and finally Sally Singleton who was born 1795 and married John Allagar in January of 1818.
