Raymond Edward Gunterman was born 27 June 1910 in Illinois according to the 1920 Census. He was the brother of Mary Katherine Gunterman. Their parents were Lela Marie Maurer and Stephen A. Guntermann. His birthdate is confirmed by U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014.
REG 1930 US Federal Census
Raymond lived in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky with his mom in 1930 according to the 1930 Census. He lived with his mom, his sister Mary, and a maid by the name of Elizabeth Bank. They lived at Wrocklage Avenue which Lela rented. The house was worth $50. Raymond was 19 years old at the time and didn’t work. Lela and Mary were stenographers. Lela worked at Trust Co. and Mary worked at a letter firm. Lela was divorced.

Raymond Edward Gunterman married Oleita Lightfoot Ayers on 15 August 1937 per Indiana, Marriages, 1810-2001. His birthdate is listed as 27 June 1910, Louisville, Kentucky to Stephen and Lela Maurer. Ray was a clerk at the time. His father was an Optometrist. His mother was a housekeeper. All three were born in Louisville, Kentucky.

This was Ray’s first marriage. Ray marked yes to being afflicted with epilepsy, tuberculosis, venereal, or another contagious or transmissible disease. Oleita was born in Kentucky on 18 February 1910 to Bird Lightfoot and Berdie Duffer of Kentucky. She was a waitress. Her father was a farmer. This was her second marriage, she had divorced in May 1935.
REG 1940 US Federal Census
According to the Census, in 1940, Raymond was 29 years old. He rented a house at 672 S. 5th Street, Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky with his wife. The house was worth $23. Raymond was a skilled laborer at an auto accessory plant and had completed his 3rd year of high school. His income was $600 and he worked 32 hours. He was the head of household and lived with his wife, Oleita M Sue Lightfoot, born 18 February 1910, age 30 and his step-daughter Bettie Sue Ayers, age 8. All three were born in Kentucky. Oleita worked 46 hours as a waitress and her income was 460.

Death
Raymond died in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky on 19 May 1997 according to the U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014. His social security number was 404-01-5095 and was issued in Kentucky prior to 1951. His last residence was 40205 Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky. He was 86 years old and his death certificate number was 13918, according to the Kentucky Death Index, 1911-2000.

Raymond was laid to rest in the Gunterman family plot of Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA, per U.S. Find A Grave Index 1600s-Current. He is resting in Section 14, Lot 259, Grave 11. His Memorial # is: 166664659.
