Orval Ray Tudor was born 12 November 1895, according to the Web: Grant County, Indiana, Marion Public Library Birth Index, 1882-1981. However, this information appears inaccurate based on other documentation for Orval.

ORT 1900 US Federal Census
In 1900, according to the United States Federal Census, Orval lived with his parents and siblings at 2005 South Gallatren Street, Grant County, Indiana. His father was William Tudor, born October 1861. His parents were both born in Ohio, he was born in Indiana. William worked as a Clerk and owned their house. He was 38 years old and married to Viola R for 17 years. Viola was 35 years old, born November 1864. She had 5 children, all living at the time. Her mother was born in Virginia, she and her father were born in Indiana. Orval’s siblings were: Sella V, born November 1884; John C, born December 1886; Bertha L, born May 1889; and Sista M, born June 1892. Orval was born December 1895 according to the Census.

According to the 1910 United States Federal Census, Orval still lived with his parents, grandmother, and siblings. They lived at 1939 Park Avenue, Center Township, Marion County, Indiana. Orval was 14 years old at the time. William was 49, Viola was 45. Viola’s mother was Caroline Ellis, 79 years old and widowed. Caroline had 5 children, 3 still living. Her parents were born in Pennsylvania. Viola had 5 children, all still living. Bertha was 20, Sista was 17, Sella and John C no longer lived with them. William was a salesman at the grocery store and rented their house. Bertha was a bookkeeper at Tile Works.

Marriage
Orval married Elsie M Mann on 27 January 1917 in Marion County, Indiana, according to Indiana, Marriage Index, 1800-1941. His birthdate is listed as 11 December 1893, he was 24 years old at the time. Indiana, Select Marriages Index, 1748-1993 lists their marriage date as 26 January 1917. His parents are listed as William Tudor and Viola A. Ellis. Elsie’s parents are listed as Serilda White and George W. Applegate.

ORT 1917 U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
According to U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918, Orval registered for the draft on 5 June 1917. At the time he lived at 1912 Broadway, Indianapolis, Indiana. His date of birth is listed as 11 December 1895 in Marion, Indiana. He worked as a Clerk at L.G. Deschler Cigar Company in Indianapolis. He claimed exemption from the draft as his wife was dependent on him for support. He was tall with a medium build, had blue eyes and blond hair. He had no disabilities.

ORT 1920 US Federal Census
In 1920, per the United States Federal Census, Orval and Elsie lived on Senate Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana. Orval was 24 years old and Elsie was 26 years old. Orval was a salesman for a Tire Company.

ORT 1930 US Federal Census
According to the United States Federal Census, Orval and Elsie lived at 2232 North Alabama Street, Indianapolis, Indiana with a roomer named Alma Bender in 1930. Orval rented the house which was worth $30 at the time. He was 34 years old. Elsie and Alma were 35 years old at the time. Orval was a salesman for the Radio. Alma was a hairdresser at her own shop.

ORT 1936 U.S. City Directories
Orval and Elsie lived at 1309 N. Penn, apt. 7, Indianapolis, Indiana in 1936, per U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995. Orval was a salesman.

ORT 1940 US Federal Census
According to the United States Federal Census, in 1940, Orval and Elsie lived north of 70 St. Road, east and south of White River to Keystone Street in Washington, Marion County, Indiana. It says Orval was 42 at the time and Elsie was 42. Orval had completed 8th grade and Elsie had completed 2 years of high school. Orval was a salesman and made $1,400. Their house was rented.

In 1942, per U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995, Orval and Elsie lived at 2110 E. 75th, Indianapolis, Indiana. Orval was a Carpenter at the time.

Orval registered for the WWII Draft in 1942 per U.S., World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942. His and Elsie’s place of residence was listed as R. R. 13, Box 557, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. He was 46 years old at the time, his birth date was listed as 11 December 1895 in Marion County, Indiana. His employer was Blair & Co. and he worked at Camp Atturbury in Edinburgh, Johnson-Bartholomew County, Indiana.

In 1952, per U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995, Orval and Elsie lived at 2112 E. 75th, Indianapolis, Indiana. Orval was an Electrician at the time.
Death
According to Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899-2011, Orval R. Tudor passed away on 29 September 1965 at 11:30am of Shock due to Gram Negative Septicemia that onset 1 day prior. He was a retired salesman and a WWI veteran. His birthdate is listed as 11 December 1895, he lived 69 years, 9 months, and 18 days. An autopsy was performed.

ORT 1965 Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899-2011
He passed at Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery on 2 October 1965.
