Nancy Campbell

Documented History

According to Kentucky, Compiled Marriages, Isaac Trowbridge married Nancy Campbell on 20 December 1796.  This is also confirmed by Kentucky Pioneers and Court Records.

The 1810 Census lists Isaac Trobridge right between William taylor and Johnson Thompson.  There were six household members living with Isaac at the time.  Two of those were over 25 at the time, I’m guessing that was Isaac and his wife Nancy.

1810 United States Federal Census

Four of them were under 16 years old.  I’m assuming they were their children.  All were listed as free white people.  Two of them were males under 10.  There was 1 male and 1 female between 10 and 25 years old.  Isaac and the adult female were between 26 and 44 years old.

1820 United States Federal Census

The Census for 1820 lists Isaac Trobridge with 8 total people in the household, he’s likely the male older than 45.  There was 1 female between 26 and 44, 1 male between 16 and 25, 1 male between 16 and 18, 1 male between 10 and 15, 3 males under 10, and 1 female under 10.  They lived in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky.

1830 United States Federal Census

According to the 1830 Census, there were 6 household members living with Isaac Trobridge in Orange County, Indiana.  He had to be between 60 and 69 years old at the time.  His spouse was between 50 and 59.   There was a male and a female between 15 and 19 as well as two males between 10 and 14 years old.

The 1850 Census record lists Nancy living with Meriton and Margaret Trobridge at the age of 73.  Meriton was 37 and a farmer.  Margaret was 6 years old.

1850 United States Federal Census

Meriton and Margaret were from Kentucky, Nancy was from Virginia.  Neither Meriton, nor Nancy, could read.  They lived in Northwest, Orange County, Indiana.  Nancy was born in 1777 according to that record.

This is the only information I have for Nancy, not even enough to connect her to Mary Polly Trowbridge as her daughter. If you happen to know of this family, I would love it if you’d share it with us so we can keep her story alive for generations to come. As I find out more, I’ll come back and update this page of course.

That’s it for now, take care!
