Mary had a brother named Raymond Edward Gunterman who was born in Illinois on 27 June 1910 and died 19 May 1997 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary is the first in the Gunterman line that I am researching.

Mary lived in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky with her mom in 1930 according to 4 ancestry family trees. She was 17 years old at the time and single. According to the 1930 Census, Mary lived with her mom, her brother, and a maid by the name of Elizabeth Bank from Irish Free State.
They lived at 2114 Wrocklage Avenue which Lela rented. The house was worth $50. Mary’s brother, Raymond, was 19 years old at the time and didn’t work. Lela and Mary were stenographers. Lela worked at Trust Co. and Mary worked at a letter firm. Lela was divorced. Lela, Raymond, and Mary were from Kentucky.

Mary married Louis Aloysius Miller Sr., around 1931 according to an ancestry family tree. Together they had Louis Aloysius Miller Jr.

Death
Mary died in Jefferson, Kentucky on 8 December 1959 according to ancestry family trees. She was 47 years old at the time. However, her death certificate has her date of death listed as 8 December 1958 due to Lobar Pneumonia that she had been fighting for 2 weeks. She passed away at 12:15pm in SS Mary & Elisabeth Hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Her name is listed as Mary Kathryn Gathof, born 25 May 1912. She was 46 years, 6 months, and 13 days old when she passed. Her father’s name was Steve Gunterman. Her mother’s name was Lela Meyer. The informant was Stephen C. Gathof. She had been suffering with Pleurise Effusion, Acute Spenitis, and Anemia prior to her death. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky.

Mrs. Mary Kathryn Gathof, 46, of 1843 Heaton Road, died at 12:15 p.m. yesterday [December 8, 1958] at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. She was a native of Louisville. Surviving are her husband, Stephen C. Gathof; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ray King; a son, Louis A. Miller; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Virginia Skaggs, Mrs. Joyce Borders, Mrs. Shirley Caffee, and Mrs. Patricia Livers; four stepsons, Stephen A., John D. James K. and Thomas Gathof; her mother, Mrs. Lela Gunterman; a brother, Ray Gunterman and 18 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
