Clemens Clarence Biver was born on 7 November 1892 according to his U.S. Passport Application. He was born in Bushingen, Lorraine, France. His father was Nikolaus Biver and was also born in Bushingen, Lorraine, France.

According to U.S., Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963, Clemens enlisted into the Army, Company K, 8th Infantry Regiment on 15 November 1919 for World War I. He was a Corporal in the Army. He was Honorably discharged on 15 November 1920.

Clemens was 28 years old when he applied for his U.S. Passport in 1920 according to his Passport Application. He emigrated to the U.S. on 28 October 1911. He requested the passport so that he could return to France to visit his mother and marry his fiancé. He left the U.S. via ship from the port in New York, New York on 18 December 1920. He obtained his passport on 18 November 1920.

Clemens was a solider living at Camp Dix in Burlington, New Jersey in 1920 according to the Census. He was a carpenter who immigrated from France in 1911 at 18 years old. He was naturalized in 1918.

Clemens married Mary Augusta Piquet on 6 April 1921. He was 28 years old and Mary was 18 years old at the time.

Yolande was in second grade at the time. Yolande and her sisters were born in Virginia. Clarence was a parcel post carrier for the post office. Clarence and his wife were both born in France. Clarence was naturalize in the United States and completed 7th grade. His income with the post office was $2500. According to the census, he was born in about 1893.

In 1942, according to U.S. City Directories 1822-1995, Clemens lived at 52 W Kelly Avenue, Phoebus, Newport News, Virginia. Clemens worked as a Carrier for the US Post Office. I noticed his wife Mary isn’t listed in this one and the address is just slightly different. Lucette, his daughter, was living at 53 W Kelly Avenue. So I’m not sure if the difference in address was a typo or if they moved across the street for a year or two.

Clemens was drafted for World War II according to U.S., World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942. He still lived at 53 Kelly Avenue, in Phoebus, Elizabeth City, Virginia at the time. He named his daughter, Lucette Biver as the person who would always know his address. He was 50 years old at this time.

In 1944, according to U.S. City Directories 1822-1995, Clemens lived at 53 W Kelly Avenue, Phoebus, Newport News, Virginia. Clemens worked as a Carrier for the US Post Office. This time, his wife Mary is not with him here but a Marguerite E is with him instead. Further research will reveal whether his wife passed away and he remarried or something else. Since the address matches so many previous years and he’s still listed as a carrier for the Post Office, I am concluding that this is the same person.
